This is another name for the Meḷa Karthā Rāga. A Meḷa rāgam also known as a parent rāga must have all the seven notes in both the ārōhaṇa and avarōhaṇa. The notes must be the same in both scales and must follow the regular order. The Thāra Sa must be present in both scales. There are a total of 72 such rāgas, from which the many janya rāgas are born.
