Padha varṇam

This refers to a varnam that has rhythmic elements like that of a padham and that is meant for classical dance. It consists of chauka kāla swaras suitable for footwork, and sāhithya suitable for abhinaya at the mukthāyi swaras as well as all the charaṇas. This is also called chauka varṇam or āṭṭa varṇam.
