Thattadavu

Thattadavus are the basic footsteps that involve striking of the feet in Half-knee position (Aramandi). Students learn the basic Natyarambha position and learn to co ordinate the Hand gestures (Hasthamudhra), Hands, Eyes, Head, Neck and Torso movements for each of the footwork. Thattadavu consists of eight basic variations done in three different speeds. The students learn to sing all the eight Thattadavus in 3 different speeds set to a particular rhythmical pattern (Thala). Students are given a fitness guide explaining the Yogic postures relevant to the footwork. Then, the students learn the footwork under Footwork analysis section. Later, they will go through the body movement analysis and learn to co-ordinate the Hand gestures (Hasthamudhra), Hands, Eyes, Head, Neck and Torso movements for each of the footwork. When once they learn the Adavu in its entirety, they practice it in different speeds. Audio downloads are provided to help the students in their practice.
Students are provided with high quality Step by Step learning videos by watching which they learn the Adavus and present it during one on one online class with the instructors once a week. There are downloadable PDF’s for your reference.
The course duration is for 6 weeks with 6 sessions with the teacher. If students wish to extend the course duration, they can do it by paying a minimal fee. They could write to admin@eambalam.com for more details
